Hi, I'm Nathan, a working music producer and Berklee NYC graduate (MA in Songwriting & Production, GPA 3.98) with 10+ years of experience in K-pop, Jazz, and Gospel music. I've taught Jazz Piano and Ensemble at Washington Institute of Music and Arts since 2022, and I love helping students find their own musical voice. Whether you're a beginner exploring chords or an intermediate player working on jazz improvisation, I'll meet you where you are. Let's make music together.
"I am 58 years old and I had wanted to play piano my entire life and kept telling myself I'd missed my chance. I finally booked a trial lesson with Nathan mostly to prove to myself I couldn't do it. He proved me wrong in the kindest way. He has never once made me feel slow or behind. When my fingers don't cooperate (which is often, arthritis is no joke) he just smiles and shows me a stretch or a different fingering and we move on. He picks pieces based on music I actually love, so I'm always motivated to go home and practice. What I didn't expect was how much he'd care about ME and not just my playing. He remembers my grandkids' names. He notices when I've had a rough week and quietly picks something gentler for the day. When I played my very first little recital at our community center, he showed up with flowers. I cried, my friends cried, it was a whole thing. He's one of the most patient, generous people I've met, and learning from someone who's also navigating a language that isn't his own has honestly made ME more patient with people. Didn't expect a piano teacher to teach me that. I look forward to every single lesson.

Music has been my lifelong companion, and I am eager to guide you on your own musical journey. While I may be newer to professional instruction, my passion for piano and commitment to personalized learning will unlock your full potential. Iβll ensure our lessons are not just educational but also genuinely enjoyable. I specialize in beginner students and love sparking the passion for music at a young age, though itβs never ever too late to start!
"Lazarus is encouraging and patient. He has high standards for technique and musicality.
