My name is Roberto. I was born and raised in San José, Costa Rica, and I came to the United States nine years ago to play college tennis. I graduated from Azusa Pacific University (nation's top 10 NCAA Division II school) with a B.A. in Business Management and served as the team's captain on my last semester. I have also coached beginner and intermediate tennis players of all ages in Costa Rica as well as several collegiate dual matches. Regarding my playing history, I have played tournaments in over 10 countries, obtained a junior international ranking, and reached a ranking of #8 in Costa Rica. As of this year, I started coaching pickleball and the experience has been no different! Concepts are very similar and time to raise level is actually shorter!

Having triumphed in Round Robin events at Tustin Pickleball, I bring over two decades of tennis expertise, infusing a unique perspective into pickleball coaching. I suck at learning at the age of 42 and Tom has been patient with me throughout the lesson. 1 hour was pre challenging but kept me focused he gives you good advice and checks your mistakes and compliments what youre doing good. We wanted an experienced, certified pro to look at our form and our results, to help us improve. Daniela was great. We felt seen and heard. She explained and demonstrated things well, and we both feel the session was well worth our time and energy.

With a tournament win under my belt, I bring passion and expertise to every pickleball lesson. I come from a table tennis background since I was 10 years old. I not only work with adults but kids as well. If you have a pickleball addiction like me, I will help you improve any areas that you wish while having fun at the same time.

"Brian demonstrates a novel way of teaching by giving me the opportunity to identify my own mistakes based on the content that I learned from him on the spot. This exercise, along with the drills, helps me better understand the concepts that we learned today. If there is one improvement I have to state, it’s that the drop shot adjustments could be introduced better. Give them awareness that the balls can come at different height/different speeds first and then show them the techniques to handle such cases.

My journey in golf began at age five, competing in tournaments by age nine. I proudly represented Davis Senior High School's Varsity golf team for all four years. Although I didn't make the cut for the University of Oregon's D1 golf team, my passion for the sport remained undiminished. During high school, I shared my love for golf by coaching kids at the Golf and Splash summer camp in Davis. Now, I'm committed to regular practice, striving to lower my index back to scratch.
