In keeping with the philosophy of Bobby Jones, the first person to capture all of golf’s major championships as an amateur, I believe that dedication and proper technique are essential for success in any endeavor. When you start playing competitivley you find that simply participating is not enough; one must strive to master the fundamentals and execute them correctly to fully appreciate and excel at the game of golf & life. Over the years I have dedicated tens of thousands of hours to the practice and implementation of the mechanics in the golf swing. This has granted me unique insights into the mental and technical aspects of playing well. I encourage a mindset of commitment and continuous improvement for myself and my students alike, regardless of one’s skill level.

Aloha friends! I’m Mikey and I’m just a dude that has been surfing for 30 years now. I started as a teen to be cool and win over the cute girls. I never got the cute girl but I did quickly became obsessed with surfing. Surfing is my life and I’m a surfer. I love to share the stoke of surfing! It’s the most exhilarating and rewarding sport. Actually, I would call surfing a lifestyle. I hope to meet y’all and teach you how to catch a bunch of waves and to appreciate the beauty of the ocean. One of my favorite moments in my career was making the Semifinals of the NCAA D3 Singles Championship in Orlando during my freshman year at Pacific University (Oregon). Tennis has been my passion since day one and it’s shaped who I am. Now I coach because I love helping others level up and see real improvement. Whether it’s fixing the little things or building confidence, I’m all about making the game more fun, competitive, and rewarding for every player I work with.

I’m a professional golfer currently competing at a high level, with a +5 handicap and a collegiate background from UCSB. I’ve spent the past five years teaching golfers of all skill levels, helping them build confidence, consistency, and a deeper understanding of the game. As a former tournament player, my experience is enriched by my background as an elite gymnast and former Cirque du Soleil artist. This unique blend allows me to incorporate flexibility, balance, strength, and coordination exercises into my coaching methods, creating a holistic approach to training.

"Highly recommend this coach for technical guidance and thoughtful feedback. I improved quickly in just one session. We worked on a warm-up, forehand and backhand fundamentals, and hits from both the baseline and service line. He also brought in insight from his gymnastics and movement background, which was helpful because tennis a more fluid, almost dance-like feel. He understands the mechanics and genuinely cares about teaching.

I had the best professional teachers from childhood. Maradona, Pele, and Phillips. A couple more, I’ll tell you in person. Pepperdine University graduate. I coached a lot of younger professional players when I was young, anything to get their attention and they listened. Euro 2024 and a lot of countries players. If you want me to coach your team to win a league it’s not difficult for me. I don’t need to play to coach. I prefer to play and coach.

I have been playing tennis for over twenty years. This is includes competing in junior tournaments, playing in high school and junior college. I’ve teaching for almost fifteen years. I teach all ages and levels. Many of my players have gone on to play varsity at the high school level. My teaching style is to start with the fundamentals and add more as the student improves, constantly pushing them to improve.

"I had such a great lesson with Roger! He taught me the fundamentals of the forehand, backhand, volleys, and how to hit a lob, but what really stood out was how much he focused on proper technique and the small details that make a big difference. One tip that really stuck with me was learning to keep my eyes on the contact point when hitting the ball, which immediately helped my consistency. Roger is patient, encouraging, and explains everything in a way that’s easy to understand, no matter your skill level. I left the lesson feeling more confident and excited to keep improving. This lesson might honestly be one of the reasons I hope to come back to San Clemente someday. I’d love to train with Roger again. Highly recommend him to anyone looking to improve their game!

My journey with tennis began in childhood, playing with my grandmother, which sparked my passion and led me to join high school and college teams. Since then, I've maintained a regular schedule of playing several times a week. I've also enjoyed teaching numerous beginners, adept at starting players from scratch and guiding them through their tennis journey.
