Bringing pickleball to life through clear, committed coaching. With years of teaching experience, I specialize in technique, strategy, and footwork โ helping beginners and intermediates transition to advanced play. "Didnโt just feed easy balls โ drilled realistic game scenarios so I could actually use what I learned in matches, not just in isolated drills.

Fueled from a life long passion for racquet sports including playing for UC Irvine tennis 1986-1990, I became a dedicated pickleball enthusiast in January 2021. I started at over 190 lbs and currently am at 160 lbs and in the best shape I have been for the last 20+ years, so I know the benefits of pickleball. Not to mention the wide array of good friends I have made over the years. I currently compete at the Senior Pro level and my DUPR rating is over 5.0 in both singles and doubles. I work with all levels of pickleball players and have coached students now competing at the professional level. I am an IPTPA certified instructor and my teaching philosophy is not just about how to swing the paddle, but teaching the art of pickleball - strategy, spins, footwork, and how to get the most out of your game.
"After four years of playing pickleball, I finally understand what good coaching can do. My first lesson with Bill Brown was honestly transformational. Iโm on the verge of tears of happiness thinking about how much progress I made in just one session. Bill is patient and has a gift for explaining body mechanics in memorable ways that immediately click. We worked on my backhand returns, drives, and dinks. I realized I had been doing many of the fundamentals incorrectly, and Bill made each correction easy to understand and apply. By the end of the lesson, I was finally starting to develop the feel for a proper backhand drive after struggling with it for four years. I only wish I had taken a lesson with Bill three or four years ago. It would have saved me years of frustration and bad habits. I look forward to my next lesson and feel more confident heading into my next tournament. I highly recommend Bill to anyone who wants to improve their game.

I would first ask if thereโs anything specific the student is looking to work on in their game. I would assess through drills what they need to practice to make improvements. If thereโs nothing specific that they are looking for, I will assess through basic drills what weaknesses are in their game. From there we will improve their weaknesses through diagnosing the cause of their mistakes (footwork, paddle angle, swing speed, theory, backswing, etc). After, we will repeatedly practice the action to correct the bad habits that create the weakness, and to create muscle memory that will translate to real game situations.

Iโve had the opportunity to work with children ages 6 to 18 through various summer camp programs and golf academies, which have taught me how to adapt my lessons to suit different learning styles and attention spans. I focus on creating a fun, encouraging environment where kids feel supported and excited to learn. Patience, clear communication, and positive reinforcement are at the core of my teaching style. Every lesson begins with the fundamentals and builds gradually, always at a pace thatโs comfortable for each child. My goal is to make sure they not only improve their skills but also develop a genuine love for the game.
